Wasserman Schultz to Step Down as DNC Chair
“I want to see that incorporated into the Democratic Party, and I don’t believe that Debbie Wasserman Schultz is the person to be able to do that”.

That’s according to a person familiar with the discussions, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
Sanders had previously said Wasserman Schultz, a Florida congresswoman, should not head the Democratic Party.
In televised interviews Sunday, the Vermont senator said the emails proved what he knew was true: The DNC planned to support former Secretary of State Clinton from the start.
“People … are concerned about all the challenges that our country faces, both domestically and overseas, and are looking for a strong, steady hand to guide us through some tumultuous times”, Kennedy said.
Both President Obama and Hillary Clinton accepted Wasserman Schultz’s resignation in statements issued within moments of each other.
Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) as the chair of the convention on Sunday morning.
Campaign officials argued that she had become a lightning rod because of the hacked emails, this person said.
Still, does this cast a cloud over the Democratic National Convention? On the eve of the convention, the organizing committee announced that the Rev. Jesse Jackson and retired Gen. John Allen will also speak. “There’s simply no one better at taking the fight to the Republicans than Debbie”, Clinton said.
Spokesman Marc LaVorgna says Bloomberg will make the endorsement speech Wednesday night.
The controversy over Wasserman Schultz came as the party looks to project unity following last week’s often fractious Republican convention.
Bloomberg has been sharply critical of Trump, and in particular of his fellow New Yorker’s inflammatory rhetoric on immigration. “I would like for her to resign immediately”.
Still in question is what role Wasserman Schultz might play during this week’s Democratic convention.
The DNC rules committee member spoke on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of internal party affairs.
Other scheduled speakers are Massachusetts Sen. With almost 13 million voters, it is clear that Hillary Clinton will need Sanders’ full backing to win the Presidential race in November.
They’ll appear at public rallies and smaller events.
The events come at a time when concern was already growing among national security officials that Russian Federation is attempting to meddle in the US election; even before the leak, on Thursday, the White House convened a meeting that included representatives of intelligence agencies, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the National Security Council, the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security.
Trump has said Clinton’s record as the top USA diplomat from 2009 to 2013 “has been a disaster”. Sanders’ campaign charged that Clinton’s team was not handing over its fair share of its fundraising, which Sanders’ campaign manager Jeff Weaver said was “laundering” and “looting”. He added: “Most of us stopped the name-calling thing about fifth grade”. She also credits Clinton for her work co-founding Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, which improved foster care at a time when it “was not high on anybody’s radar”.
“Her leadership of the DNC has meant that we had someone who brought Democrats together not just for my re-election campaign, but for accomplishing the shared goals we have had for our country”, the statement said.
“She is the most experienced presidential candidates on the planet, not just in the United States”, said Alam, a 59-year-old state employee who lives in Weston. “What’s in those emails show that it was a clearly rigged system, that Bernie Sanders – Sanders never had a chance”. “Yes, I would have”, Sanders told NBC’s “Meet the Press”.
Bernie Sanders, who vied against Clinton for the party’s nomination.
“Would I have preferred to see someone like an Elizabeth Warren selected by Secretary Clinton?”
A fixture on the American political scene for decades, Clinton is headed to the party’s quadrennial convention after naming Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as her vice presidential running mate.
Here’s what Sanders tells ABC’s “This Week”: “I’m not shocked, but I am disappointed”. Pressure on Schultz increased further after Sanders called for her resignation.
As a Muslim, Alam said she’s also concerned about Donald Trump’s call to ban non-citizen Muslims from entering the country. “Since the beginning of the primaries, Bernie did better against Trump in all of the polls”.

The emails were leaked from the accounts of seven DNC officials, Wikileaks said.
