“It was just about finding the 40 and stopping before that and putting enough height [on the throw] for my guys to get in the end zone”. After a Matt Stafford fumble on the next Detroit snap, Aaron Rodgers would find Davante Adams in the end zone for an eight-yard touchdown pass to cut the Lions lead to 20-14 with4:06 to go in the third quarter.

During Thursday’s dramatic finish, Lions defensive end Devin Taylor was called for a penalty after his hand perhaps grazed the facemask of Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Or was there? They tried the old hook and ladder, and then proceeded to continually lateral the ball looking for a miracle, the ball ended back in the hands of Aaron Rodgers. In fact, the play was designed from the start, right from how Rodgers threw it. “When you throw it with that arch you have a chance, because it gives guys a chance to fight for position”, said Packers coach Mike McCarthy said. Aaron Rodgers threw a desperation pass on the previous play. This year, for the first time since he has been in coaching, reporters didn’t call him to rehash it before the Cal-Stanford game.

The Rodgers family has a flare for the dramatic – and no, we’re not talking about Aaron Rodgers. The Green Bay Packers tight end fought his way out of the slew of Detroit Lions stars blocking his way and leapt to catch his quarterback’s pass.In a close call like this, the referees will be cautious and call the penalty if it looks like there was some degree of contact.

The Packers were down for the entire first half of the game.

“I thought to myself, ‘Well, if [Aaron] can get it up there, [Richard] is going to go get it, ‘” Rodgers Sr. said. That gave the Packers another play with time expired.

Blandino said Abdul-Quddus did not appear to commit pass interference when he ran into Abbrederis along the Packers’ sideline.

“My personal opinion, I don’t think I did (grab his facemask)”, Taylor said. “Defense always gets an interception, bats it down, that’s the type of stuff you don’t see in the National Football League, maybe college, but we’ll gladly take it”.

“Then it was, get him out from underneath that pile”.

Injuries a big factor for the Packers, as they entered the game missing starting offensive lineman TJ Lang and Bryan Bulaga.

The other six players – linebackers Tahir Whitehead and Josh Bynes and defensive backs Darius Slay, Glover Quin, Isa Abdul-Quddus and Nevin Lawson – ran to the end zone hoping to knock the ball down.

Rodgers then produced the giant Hail Mary pass with the final play of the game to complete a turn-around
