Watch Bernie Sanders Crash Stephen Colbert’s Monologue Like a Real Democratic Socialist

Sanders appeared on CBS’ “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” Wednesday after his massive victory in New Hampshire.

Colbert argued that first, he at least had to tell everyone who’s on the show tonight, to which Sanders replied: “Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it”, announcing his guests of Zoolander 2’s Ben Stiller, Sanders himself (“he’s electrifying!”) and Japanese percussion group Drum TAO.

Citing Bill O’Reilly’s “Late Show” appearance before a more hostile crowd Monday night, Colbert asked Sanders if he and Trump are in fact “the same guy with different haircuts”. He went on to say that many of Trump’s supporters are angry and that they see the two candidates as providing answers to what they feel is an inequality. Colbert explained it as Sanders being like PuppyMonkeyBaby, a reference to the Super Bowl ad, which Sanders admitted he didn’t understand.

But hosts are supposed to start their shows “standing up and talking to a camera”, Colbert said. Colbert asked. “You seem like two sides to the same coin”. “You are the revolution!”

“Stephen, that is not true”, said Sanders, walking out to join the host. Why can’t all people in this country have healthcare?

But Sanders disagreed, and said, “When people come together, we can accomplish great things”. They are in many cases people who are working longer hours for low wages, they are people who are anxious about what’s going to happen to their kids.

While Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Donald Trump may have both won big in the New Hampshire primary Tuesday, Sanders maintains that the candidates do not have the same message. “I think that’s a false solution”, Sanders said.

“Stephen, that’s what the elites want you to think”, he said, to plenty of applause.

“People have a right to be angry”. But what we need to be is rational in figuring out how we address the problems and not simply scapegoating minorities.
