The Giants shortstop may of had 14 innings to collect seven hits, but it was still a unique accomplishment. Yelich also turned in a stellar performance, going 3 for 6 with a double, home run and four RBIs. Crawford’s single in the eighth tied it at 7.
“But with that said, we’ve got to find a way to get some runs”, Bochy said. “They bounced back and from there it was insane after that”.
Giants starter Johnny Cueto allowed five runs in five innings.
Marlins pinch hitter Ichiro Suzuki grounded out in the sixth inning a day after becoming the 30th player in Major League Baseball history to collect 3,000 hits. Suzuki tipped his helmet in appreciation before grounding out in his only at-bat.
