Comedian Jon Stewart ended his 16-year run as host of The Daily Show Thursday night with a poignant, amusing and emotional show that featured a number of former Daily Show colleagues and special guests.

Jon Stewart has apparently always been a guy who never wanted a thank you.
From here, the next order of business for the show was moving into what was the next phase, which was a behind-the-scenes tour of everyone Stewart works with on the show.
And a Minneapolis ad agency, Fallon, took us down a memory lane of Stewart slams against the restaurant chain with a commercial that aired during “The Daily Show” this week.
Other fans on line reflected on Stewart’s retirement and legacy.
Stewart was the second anchor of the Comedy Central series.
One of President Obama’s Twitter accounts paid tribute to Stewart by quoting what the president said to Stewart a few weeks ago: “You’ve been a great gift to the country”. Colbert, of course, is a former Daily Show correspondent, who then became the host of the Colbert Report, and now is taking over from David Letterman on The Late Show. The catch? All his favorite Daily Show corespondents got in on the action: Ed Helms, John Hodgman, John Oliver, Kristen Schaal, Samantha Bee, Steve Carell, Rob Corddry, Olivia Munn, and Darth Vader (not to be confused with Dick Cheney). “‘I say to you tonight, friends, the best defense against bulls– is vigilance, ‘ he said”.
Stewart’s outrage over this is sublime (and something he revisited when New York Mayor Bill De Blasio was caught eating pizza with a fork and knife). Likewise, earlier today Stan Goldstein, another Springsteen superfan who writes about the artist on NJ.com, tweeted, “Look for Bruce Springsteen and E Street Band to be on Jon Stewart’s final show on Thursday”. The show began in 1996 with Craig Kilborn as the host.
“An artist I really admire once said that he thinks of his career as a long conversation with the audience, a dialogue”.

Stewart was rolling around in his chair behind his desk like a caged animal, looking at the floor and trying not to break down completely. It’s going to be a long time before we get a newsman of any variety as genuine as Jon Stewart.
