David Bowie made his death a musical “event” by releasing his final LP “Blackstar” just two days before his passing.

‘She has taken the decision to continue in the programme.

Prior to this relationship, the rocker was married from 1970-1980 to Angie Bowie, who is now living in the Celebrity Big Brother house and has been speaking openly about their time together.

“I can think of very few people that Bowie’s music and image didn’t touch and perhaps that could be because he showed it was not only OK but actually a positive virtue to be different, to be an individual or to be a freak”. It was written because of going to see the film 2001, which I found fantastic. “I was just blown away with what he did”. In 1969, his perfectly timed single “Space Oddity”, released soon before the launch of the Apollo 11 mission that landed the first men on the moon, became a top five hit in England.

Among his many hits were The Man Who Sold the World, Life on Mars, Heroes, Ashes To Ashes, Modern Love, Changes and Let’s Dance.

He called the singer a “master of reinvention” and a pop genius who kept on getting it right.

The Rolling Stones said they were “shocked and deeply saddened” to hear the news of his death.

‘But my daughter likes me. A recording artist, actor, husband and father, Bowie’s life’s work was larger than life itself, and the artist has left in his wake an unparalleled legacy.

Bowie, born David Jones in post-war Brixton, south London, kicked off his music career in the R&B boom of the early 1960s.

As the word spread, artists, leaders, assorted admirers and even a cardinal from the Vatican paid tribute to the groundbreaking musician known for his otherworldly, androgynous appearance. “This special programme features his most memorable music and performances, as well as tributes from his friends and fans around the world”. The broadcaster said: “Bowie’s music was the soundtrack to a generation and influenced countless musicians”.

“David Bowie was one of my most important inspirations, so fearless, so creative, he gave us magic for a lifetime”, wrote musician Kanye West. “Guys like me with no confidence as a young person [learned] to simply own whatever they did, no matter how goofy it was”.
