Watch Gamers Turn Chatroulette Into A First-Person Shooter

Just when you thought the only first-person Chatroulette experience was a mediocre hand job, a British company called Realm Pictures used the video chat site to host a real-life, first-person shooter game.

“You get to see live the reaction of the person on Chatroulette or on Skype or on Omegle freaking out when they realise that they’re in control of this space warrior in a tomb full of zombies”, says David Reynolds, Creative Director at Realm Pictures.

This Chatroulette video is actually a very clever ruse.

It looks like it was a lot of fun – and props to the people who set the feature up, such effort! The environment boasts zombies, real-time sound effects, shotguns, crowbars, button-prompts, and turrets.

The elaborate game has total strangers yelling directions to the “character” they are controlling in the game, telling the character what actions to take, which weapons to pick up and use, and how to move around the eerie graveyard and church area.

Is this the future of video games? Not everyone made it to the end of the ride – caught in moments of indecision, some players killed the video’s star, allowing him to be overcome by zombies in front of jammed doors and caught between groups.
