Watch how Robert Lewandowski put the Poles in front against Scotland
Scotland’s hopes of qualifying for Euro 2016 ended in heartbreak, as Gordon Strachan’s side failed to beat Poland while Republic of Ireland claimed a 1-0 win over world champions Germany.

But Lewandowski has said he expected Scotland to play “very aggressively and not necessarily in accordance with the rules”.
Strachan should make a number of changes as his frustrated side aim to turn their anger into an emphatic win, and they will surely have more than enough to cruise to a comfortable victory against the Group D whipping boys.
Three minutes from the end, Grosicki had the best and final opportunity to grab a point when he timed his run perfectly to get on the end of a cross but got way too much on his header goalwards.
“When there are bids and enquiries there is nothing you can do about it. You do not hear anything about it and I just try to keep myself away”. They’re the priority at the moment, those guys in there and my coaching staff. To talk about me is all wrong. I’ll leave that to other people.
The Scots have now missed out on nine major championships since they last qualified for the World Cup Finals at France ’98.
“It’s what I have worked so hard for throughout my career – to test yourself against players like that”. Obviously they still need to do the job and qualify, but I think we’ve been dealt the toughest group – and we thrive on that.
“It was an interesting bit of business by Celtic when they signed him”. Because of the fan’s selfie, the story goes, the referee presumably tacked on another minute of added time. I’m proud of the players.
He reckons they may just have given former team-mate Strachan points to ponder in the coming days.
It just so happened then that Lewandowski scored with the very last touch of the game – so would he have had that chance had there been no pitch invader? That’s over a year’s work.
“Lewandowski’s in form and scoring goals and has proven to be a fantastic acquisition for Bayern Munich, but in general I don’t think they’re that different from a year ago than we are”.
Even though Scotland led 2-1, a lull descended on Hampden as the home support got news of Ireland’s goal against Germany.
For those of you that are keeping score, that’s 13 goals in the last five games he’s played.
But Strachan said: “It’s not about points or money”. Pride comes from a sense of achievement so tonight wasn’t pointless.
“We have to dust ourselves down for another game on Sunday but, right now, we’re hurting”. That will be a hard one to take.
“And if we have more chances and more goals then that will be fine. We’ve had to put up with a lot”. “I’ve got to say I really can’t be bothered speaking about it now”, he said.

Scotland have gone backwards over the past 12 months and I simply can not see how Poland are going to be defeated.
