The First Family appeared to be in a festive mood Thursday as they led the lighting of the National Christmas Tree, but they also paused in a moment of silence for victims of Wednesday’s mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif., Reuters reports.
Visible for miles around, the enormous “tree” is actually a frame constructed of over 1,800 lights and placed on top of the city’s water tower.
“Many years later, the smart people at Metro Parks, who know a good Christmas tree when they see one, started asking Elsie Brown if she would donate it”, Barry said. Her other credits include “Legally Blonde” and “Wild”. There will also be hot chocolate and funnel cakes available.
After the tree lighting, a special showing of a “Charlie Brown Christmas” will be shown at 7:15 p.m.in Glen Bruce Park.
During A Huntersville Christmas on December 12, the town will be transformed into a winter wonderland complete with a snow slide, visits from Santa and his elves and holiday stories with Mrs. Claus.
Along with the rides, there will be a play area with snow, jugglers, face painters, balloon artists and an opportunity for children to write letters to Santa.
