Prolific goalscorer Jamie Vardy kept his changing room speech brief – and vowed to enjoy a beer with his Leicester team-mates.

Vardy’s Leicester are next in action at home to Louis van Gaal’s United on November 28.

“We talked about it a little bit yesterday – the last five or six games, the level of performance, we’ve seen progression”.

Stan Mortensen scored in 15 consecutive First Division appearances for Blackpool in 1950/51, but they were not consecutive games for his club, with Mortensen having two breaks for injuries during the run.

Van Nistelrooy had tweeted a good luck message to Vardy prior to the game.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri said: “I’m very happy for Jamie. It’s not easy to equal a big champion like van Nistelrooy”.

“I’ve matched his (Van Nistelrooy’s) record and we have got the three points and a clean sheet”.

Ranieri’s unlikely leaders sit proudly above both Manchester giants and Arsenal after United briefly went top following a dramatic finale at Vicarage Road.

The England midfielder scored twice in the first half and also set up one of Romelu Lukaku’s two goals in the rout at Goodison Park. The Gunners took a 28th-minute lead through France striker Olivier Giroud but found themselves 2-1 down before half-time after James Morrison and an own-goal from Mikel Arteta put the Baggies in front.

Santi Cazorla had a chance to equalize late on, but blasted his penalty over the crossbar. Fit-again Sergio Aguero replied in the 44th for City, but Martin Skrtel’s 81st-minute volley clinched a very impressive win for Liverpool and its new manager, Juergen Klopp.

Ross Barkley says he is “enjoying the best football of my career” as he shone in Everton’s 4-0 win over bottom side Aston Villa on Saturday.

Josh King and Dan Gosling had sent the visitors into a commanding lead after 26 minutes to give the Cherries hope of a first win in eight games.

Newcastle – unchanged from its 1-0 win over Bournemouth – failed to deal with an Albrighton corner and the loose ball dropped to the England global, but his effort was well blocked.
