Watch Kanye West’s Speech at 2016 MTV VMA Awards

The 34-year-old singer had all eyes on her at the ceremony at Madison Square Garden after her popular single “Formation” nabbed six trophies, while her sixth studio album “Lemonade” walked away with the Breakthrough Long Form Video.

Beyonce proved once again she is the contemporary rock star, and she used the MTV Video Music Awards stage to showcase her skills and outshine her peers, from Rihanna to Britney Spears.

He delivered a heart-warming speech hailing the R&B beauty’s achievements, declared he had been “in love” with her since he was 22, and honoured Rihanna as a “living, breathing legend in our industry”.

They then shared a kiss on the cheek as Rihanna stepped up to accept the special Moonman award, which she celebrated as “such an incredible moment” in her career.

The “Controlla” rapper, 29, gave a revealing and heartfelt speech when he presented his rumored girlfriend with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and it sent their fans into overdrove. But nearly as incredible as her decade of hits and breakthrough music videos, was the completely swoon-worthy introduction Drake gave the “Work” singer in front of millions of live viewers. He said he met Rihanna in 2005 on the set of her first music video for “Pon de Replay”.

“I think MTV cut out Drake’s marriage proposal to Rihanna because it would have been too much for the general public to handle”, joked another. I was introduced to her as a kid who played background music at the restaurant as people ate their dinner.

Well, now we know.

“We love the woman who hasn’t changed since day one”, Drake said of Rihanna during the sweet VMAs moment, according to Us Weekly.

“Formation” – taken from “Lemonade” – then went on to win Best Direction, Best Editing, Best Pop Video, Best Choreography and Best Cinematography, while her second single “Hold Up” from the new album got Best Female Video. “All of my adult life I’ve looked up to her even though she’s younger than me”.
