Bernie Sanders, er, Bernie Sanderswitzki made a cameo on “Saturday Night Live” last night.
In addition to his popular Sanders’ impressions, David – who like Sanders is Jewish and originally from Brooklyn – is best known for TV shows “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, which he starred in, and “Seinfeld”, which he co-created, co-produced and wrote.
“Yeah, that’ll trick ’em!” jokes David, before the two realize they’ve actually crash-landed in NY. It features all of the emblematic quirks and idiosyncrasies that have come to be synonymous with David in his assumed character as the democratic presidential hopeful. “I don’t shake disgusting hands”, David says, angering her entire family. “I’m so sick of the one percent getting this preferential treatment”, he said, adding a familiar line from his stump speech.
Later in sketch, another female voter spots David right after she gets into a auto accident and asks him to pop her dislocated shoulder back into place.
Poking fun at his socialist values, Bernie says: ‘Hold on, wait a second.
While the steam ship sketch is the only one Sanders takes part in during the episode, his presence is felt in another. David playing an Irish aristocrat of sort, attempted to convince the ship’s captain to save him instead of primarily “women and children” while everyone attempts to exit the sinking vessel. “I am running for president”.
“What do you think she has a penchant for old bald man. She’s supposed to like me for myself”. Sanders, however, is the role David was born to play, other than himself.
