Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch won’t playing on Monday night against the Lions.

With Lynch sidelined, veteran Fred Jackson and rookie Thomas Rawls will split carries in the backfield to fill the void left by “Beast Mode”.

They have no choice but to try.

The Lions, who are set to take on the Seattle Seahawks in the not-so-friendly confines of CenturyLink Field in Monday Night Football, have yet to pick up a straight up win and cover through the first three weeks of the 2015 NFL campaign.

If that’s true, he leaves quite the void to fill. Graham will finish with 115 yards receiving and two touchdowns. “It was hard because we drafted him, plus I really liked him, ” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said in a conference call this week. The total has gone OVER in four of Seattle’s last six games. He has scored a touchdown in eight of his 10 career playoff games.

Even without Lynch, Seattle’s ground attack still promises to be better than that of Detroit’s by a significant margin. Lynch was hurt catching a fourth-down pass just before halftime.

Lynch is off to a slow start this season and he has just 128 yards and has not yet found his way into the endzone.

Lynch will not play tonight after not practicing this week.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Wednesday that Lynch is “50-50” to play on Monday night against a Detroit Lions team that is giving up an average of 103 rushing yards a game so far this year. Since the beginning of last season, it has given up 13 touchdowns to tight ends during that 22-game span. Over the final eight games, he averaged 5.1 YPC.

Condotta: One of the biggest things is Rawls appears to be a flawless fit for the Seahawks’ system, which emphasizes zone blocking and patience from the running backs to let things develop.

What impressed Carroll the most was the way Rawls finished runs, backing up what was seen on his college tape during his senior season at Central Michigan. But we had offers made and all of that on the table and it just didn’t work out right. The Lions’ run game is as bad as advertised. A team normally seen as a strong offensive squad is struggling to put points on the board.

That means both the Lions and Seahawks are likely a little bit desperate, which makes for a few good football. Michael was eventually traded to the Dallas Cowboys after he had been talked about in high regard during the 2013 and 2014 seasons.

Keep in mind that the Bears seemed like pushovers in Week 3, but held Latavius Murray to just 3.1 yards per carry and a fumble in Week 4.

The last time these two National Football Conference organizations met, three years ago, Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman offered up the Lions bulletin board material by offering to play the role of “Optimus Prime” to Calvin Johnson’s moniker of “Megatron”.
