Watch out: iOS 10 install is reportedly bricking some iPhones
On Tuesday, Apple released iOS 10 for many of its mobile devices, but it wasn’t an entirely smooth process.

In a statement sent to multiple outlets including Buzzfeed, Apple says the issue has been “quickly resolved” and impacted a small number of users. For those who have already upgraded to iOS 10, the temporary solution is to completely reboot the iPhone, although this only works for a short time before the device loses connection again.
The iOS 10 software update was first presented in June, and includes deeper integration of Apple’s Siri virtual assistant with third-party applications.
iOS 10 is compatible with the iPhone 5 and all later models of Apple smartphone, as well as with all iPad Air and iPad Pro models, the fourth-gen iPad, the iPad mini 2 and later models, and the sixth-gen iPod touch. The Verge reports a problem that will likely be especially concerning for parents: the new iMessage GIF search feature is “surfacing hard core porn”.
To install iOS 10 via iTunes, connect your device to your Mac with your syncing cable. iTunes should pop up right away and ask you if you want to install the latest version of iOS. While most feedback has been positive so far, a number of users have had to deal with bricked iPhones and iPads while updating to the new OS.
Unless you’re a hardcore interface fetishist (and who isn’t?), your first minutes with iOS 10 may leave you wondering what all the fuss is about.
Now you have to force restart your device and put it in recovery mode. We’ll update this story if more details emerge.
Apple has finally rolled out iOS 10, representing one of the biggest overhauls of the platform in years. Apple Support has been reminding users to back up their phones before attempting to upgrade, and recommending they download the software over iTunes. That subtly changes the way you use iOS in a way that no previous update has managed – and once the top app developers start using the new widgets to the fullest, the transformation will become even more obvious.
