Watch Peyton Manning’s Tearful Goodbye To Football At His Retirement Press Conference
Gary Kubiak coached Manning for just nine months but it was enough for the pair to win Super Bowl 50 together.

After 18 seasons in the National Football League, countless records, and one of the best careers in the history of professional sports, Peyton Manning is retiring a champion.
(AP Photo/Chris O’Meara, File) FILE – In this February 7, 2010, file photo, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning celebrates after teammate Joseph Addai scored a touchdown during the second half of the NFL Super Bowl XLIV football game against the New Orleans Saints in Miami.
Manning, the first overall pick of the 1998 draft, quickly transformed the Colts from one of the NFL’s worst franchises into one of the best. As Ole Miss’ head coach, Cutcliffe coached Eli Manning, and when Peyton missed the 2011 season recovering from neck surgery, it was Cutcliffe, now the coach at Duke, who worked with him to get back to an MVP level.
A superb individual display from Manning helped the Denver Broncos to a 49-27 win over the Baltimore Ravens in the season opener.
Completion: A 13-yard pass to Eric Decker on a second-and-5 with 14:23 remaining in the first quarter of that game against Pittsburgh.
However, in the end, Manning decided that it was time to hang up the cleats for good, and that’s probably the best decision he could make at this point – to go out a victor.
“I was there, and I know”, he said. “If that was watching extra film, studying for extra guys, preparing more, whatever it was, Peyton would do it”, Harris said.
With a Tuesday deadline looming, it began to appear as though Manning might want to play another season but for another team – the Broncos needed his hefty salary for other players, including his replacement.
“Peyton Manning was awesome for the city and I think him going to the Broncos was great for him”.
Peyton Manning will announce his retirement on Monday, according to multiple reports.
Following the Broncos’ victory over the Patriots in their AFC Championship Game matchup in January, Manning met up with Belichick at midfield and seemed to share the same feelings the coach has. Simply put, he revolutionized NFL football. A foot injury knocked him out of the lineup after nine games but he returned in the final regular-season game, coming off the bench to beat the Chargers and secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. He would have had to get cut for a second time in his career.

“It’s what I said to my wife after I found out”, Tom Brady explained to Rep. Peter King (R-NY). “So it sure has been a pleasure”, Manning said. “I think it’s more like a proud moment he made his impact on the game and he’s going out how he should”.
