The team behind Aladdin joined Good Morning America on Friday to chat about the digital re-release as well as discuss Williams’ impact on the film.

Brad Kane and Lea Salonga, the singing voice counterparts to Aladdin and Jasmine, grabbed mics and performed the song live, proving that even over two decades later, a classic Disney song can still give us all the nostalgic feels.

Oh, they had a little bit of help as famous Disney composer Alan Menken was there with his piano and played the music. A coroner’s report said the beloved 63-year-old actor had Lewy Body Dementia, a common but hard to diagnose condition that may have contributed to his decision to commit suicide.

“Yeah, we wrote the part with Robin in mind”, Musker added. “Absolutely incredible”, Menken said on “GMA“. “We didn’t know if he would do it. And fortunately for us, he did”. “We recorded him in four-hour sessions, and he would be going four hours straight”. There was truly no-one like him and it shows in every role he ever had. Now, 23 years later, the release of the “diamond edition” Blu-ray pack will bring fans unseen moments from the Disney vault, showing Williams’ passion and dedication in the recording booth while voicing the iconic Genie.

In the unreleased outtakes, we see Williams joking, riffing, trying different voices and doing celebrity impressions as he crafts the Genie into the character that came alive on screen.
