Watch Rudy Giuliani Forget About 9/11

It’s not that Giuliani forgot about 9/11 today; it’s just that the New York Republican appears to start the clock after the deadly attacks.

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani said there were no successful radical Islamic terrorist attacks before president Barack Obama entered the White House. “They all started when Clinton and Obama came into office”.

This led to some hyperventilating on Twitter from outlets saying that Giuliani was ignoring 9/11 (something Giuliani is normally not accused of doing).

The statement came less than a minute after he mentioned that 9/11 constituted the deadliest foreign attack on USA soil since the War of 1812.

However, right before the gaffe, Giuliani was talking about the September 11 terror attacks.

“It may be that he may make more insensitive statements because he’s not a polished politician”, Giuliani told radio host John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable” on Sunday.

Perhaps more interesting than this half-gaffe, though, is that, in stumping for Trump, Giuliani contradicted one of Trump’s main talking points on terrorism from his primary campaign.

He did not mention the terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001 in NY, when more than 2,900 people died.

It’s also a line that Giuliani has used before.

Did he also forget that the World Trade Center was attacked by “radical Islamic terrorists” in 1993? He kept us safe? I was there. I lost a lot of friends that were killed in that building. While Giuliani was basically giving the previous GOP administration kudos for preventing further terrorist attacks and contrasting that with the Obama administration’s record, Trump all but blamed Bush for 9/11 during the primary. I don’t think so.
