Watch Seth Rogen Ruin Christmas in ‘Night Before’ Redband Trailer

Isaac (Rogen) is about to have a baby, Chris (Mackie) is too famous to go out in public for some reason, and Ethan (Gordon-Levitt) has come to terms with the death of his parents on Christmas many years ago. This time, the trio’s doing things a bit differently. The Night Before stars Rogen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Anthony Mackie as three life-long friends who spend every Christmas together. Their quest: find the notoriouslt decadent Nutcracka Ball, and hit as many holiday cultural traditions as possible – while hoping they don’t hit back. There’s cocaine, there’s barfing in a church, and there’s a cover of Kanye West’s “Runaway”. That leads to lots of hilarity, particularly the scene where Jewish Isaac attends midnight mass with his Christian wife (Jillian Bell), and is weirded out by all the Jesus iconography; later, he wanders into a manger scene and pets the fake sheep, thinking they’re dogs. We think we’re about to get a schmaltzy rendition of “Chopsticks”. The Night Before opens in theaters on November 25th and also stars Lizzy Caplan, Michael Shannon, and Mindy Kaling.

The comedy marks a reunion of the 2011 so-called “cancer comedy” 50-50, reteaming not only Rogen and Gordon-Levitt but also director Jonathan Levine (The Wackness), who co-wrote the script with Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter, and Ariel Shafir. Rogen and Goldberg produced the film with James Weaver. Called The Night Before, the festive flick now has a trailer.
