Watch the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer

The company declined to give ticket sales figures for “The Force Awakens”, but said it was eight times more than previous record holder, 2011′s “The Hunger Games”.

Jurassic World star Chris Pratt was among those excited about the trailer’s release.

Director J.J. Abrams took to Twitter before the big reveal, writing “I don’t care if you’re black, white, brown, Jawa, Wookiee, Jedi or Sith”.

Cinema tickets for the hugely anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens went on sale on Tuesday at 8am and within 24 hours an unprecendented 200,000 tickets had been sold.

Disney debuted the latest trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, during halftime on ESPN’s Monday Night Football. “I grew up with Star Wars, so this is emotional for me”.

“Star Wars”, created by filmmaker George Lucas, has grossed more than $4.4 billion globally since 1977 with six films.

“This is an extraordinary time for the industry, which experienced unprecedented ticketing demand last night for Star Wars: The Force Awakens”, Fandango said in a statement, without providing numbers. The other original cast members, Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Carrie Fisher as Princess Leia can be found right smack dab in the middle, so where’s Luke?

The second teaser trailer, which debuted in April, has more than 64 million views on YouTube to date. The movie won’t hit cinemas until December 17. Demand was so high that sites like Fandango and Movietickets.com completely crashed.
