Watch the odd goal that angered Dubnyk and the Wild

We’ll react to this game, as well as get you ready for Game 3 on Monday. Dallas was given a go-ahead goal on what appeared to be a kicked onto the back of Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk who then fell into the goal – dislodging it – and allowing the puck to enter the goal area. Only after the puck has already crossed the goal line is the net completely off the mooring. “I think it’s good to get a little practice in and forget about last night’s game”. “His goaltending has been very strong going down the stretch here for us”. “They got the bounce and we didn’t”.

Wild coach John Torchetti asked an official for an explanation immediately after the review was complete.

“I asked (the referee) what can I call here?” “He said ‘we reviewed the kick, we reviewed the high stick, we reviewed the net and the whistle'”.

But for as bad as that goal was for Mason, it still probably wasn’t as freakish as the one Antoine Roussel scored in Dallas to give the Stars a 1-0 lead over the Minnesota Wild. Dubnyk had a sprawling save, securing the puck when on his stomach in front of the net, after Benn’s slap shot off a rebound with about 13 minutes left in the game. Benn received the puck inside the neutral zone before scoring on the breakaway with a backhand through Dubnyk’s five-hole. “This game that I had all my interest in just ended”, Lehtonen said. Giving Granlund a quick pass for a one-timer, 64 couldn’t get all of it and the puck sailed wide left (insert Vikings joke).

Jamie Benn scored in the third period to put Dallas up 2-0 before Marco Scandella later scored the Wild’s lone tally. “It’s a good start for us, and we realize there’s more work”.

Minnesota outshot Dallas 8-4 in the third period.

Lehtonen denied Wild captain Mikko Koivu as he attempted to redirect a shot at close range with 27.1 seconds remaining as Minnesota had the extra attacker.

While the Wild have played their past 147 minutes of hockey without an even-strength goal, the Stars have scored even-strength goals off the skates of two of their players positioned behind the net. After squandering a 3-0 lead in the first round against Los Angeles two years ago, however, the Sharks are far from overconfident even though they’re back in the Bay Area with an early edge in the series. But the Wild made it interesting late with the power play goal and had a couple chances in the final seconds.

The Wild understandably aren’t laughing after a seventh straight loss that has them heading home down 0-2 with two of their top forwards still nursing injuries.

“No, we need more”. Dallas is loaded offensively and with Tyler Seguin expected back in the lineup for this one it makes them even more unsafe and for a Minnesota team that struggles to score goals it is an absolute nightmare scenario for them as they continue to move forward without Zach Parise.
