Kirkman was asked how it feels to generate a brand new story for Fear the Walking Dead as opposed to following the comic books with The Walking Dead.

“The reality is many of them don’t know how to defend themselves, they don’t know how”, showrunner Dave Erickson told EW.

On Thursday, the Fear the Walking Dead twitter and Facebook account posted a video of the opening three minutes of the new series. Do you think it will be better than The Walking Dead?

It’s admirable how boldly Fear The Walking Dead establishes itself as a subtler, slower burn than its guts-and gore-filled predecessor, but the shambling pace may end up testing the patience of more restless viewers.

“When we meet Madison, she and her fiancé are just trying to find a normal life for their families under one roof”, she says. It is going to begin by covering the time in which Rick Grimes was in a coma.

The series is executive produced by the team behind The Walking Dead, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert – together with David Erickson who serves as show runner.

We also know that the show is going to be more of a family drama than what we see on The Walking Dead but we expect it to be every bit as gripping. “Loyal, passionate fans are responsible for making “The Walking Dead” the #1 show on television and this is an exciting opportunity for us to thank them in person”. This Sunday, the prequel spinoff Fear the Walking Dead kicks off its six-week first season. Over the course of five seasons it has set viewing records for a cable show in the US, and returns to screens on October 11, 2015.
