Water at Olympic Diving Pool Still Green After Cleaning Closure

Olympic divers were unable to train on Friday morning when the green Olympic diving pool was closed to competitors.

The color of Olympic officials’ faces was turning from red to their natural color on Thursday as the pool used for diving and water polo began turning to blue from green.

Olympic spokesman Mario Andrada added that the water was tested regularly and determined to not be a risk to athletes.

British diver Tom Daley, who won bronze in the synchro platform event, also commented on the state of the pool in a Twitter post.

Officials said training was cancelled as “the water must be still for the pool to return to its blue colour”.

Rio 2016 organisers have said that the green colour of the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre pool will be rectified “soon”, but admitted more “could and should” have been done to prevent the problem, BBC reported.

Cornel Marculescu, the executive director FINA, also said the water has no effect to the health of athletes.

But that just resulted in water polo players complaining that chlorine was stinging their eyes.

One of the most common causes of green swimming pool water is inadequate levels of chlorine.

The caption says: “The moment you want to do some workout and the pool is closed”.

The pool’s hue has turned murky green and has worsened over the last few days. We reduced immediately the quantity.

United States diver David Boudia asked if it was a deliberate joke or an early St Patrick’s Day celebration, while the Internet had a field day with their own theories of what exactly happened. “Some things, as you can see, went longer than expected”.

Tony Azevedo, captain of the United States water polo team, complained about the problem following his team’s 6-3 victory over France. “We did all the chemical tests. We retested the water and it was totally within the parameters”.

“It will be blue from now on”, said Andradas.

It said athletes would be able to use dry-training facilities until the pool reopened. “We made a little mistake”.
