Water park owner chains himself to water slide

The eight-year-old park is located in Candia, about 10 miles northeast of Manchester, New Hampshire’s largest city, in a region known for short summers and fickle weather.

46-year-old Kevin Dumont, owner and founder of Liquid Planet Water park in Candia, has chained himself to the top of one of the park’s 30-foot waterslides in hopes of saving the property from foreclosure.

In postings on his Facebook page, Kevin Dumont said he’s not looking for a handout, just a person or group of people to work with him to help prevent a December 2 auction of Liquid Planet Water Park in Candia, New Hampshire.

He says, “The bank has foreclosed on me and is auctioning the property on December 2nd so I am staying up here to try and save it”.

“We’re losing everything if we can’t find a partner”, Dumont told the newspaper.

Dumont said he owns 40 percent of the business; 23 investors own the rest. He also published several photos of his impromptu campground, which sits atop one of the park’s water slides.

In a post on company’s Facebook fan site, Dumont, a veteran, asked park fans to spread the word. The bank foreclosed on the property after Dumont fell behind on loan payments. “But the first year was so rainy we could never get out of that hole”, he said.

Making matters worse for Dumont, both of his parents died within recent months-his mother in August and his father in October. Dumont said their passing made him, like anybody, re-examine his life.

He hopes the attention from this stunt will allow that to happen.

“I have a good team of people supporting me”, he said.
