Water Tom Selleck accused of stealing was paid for

Tom Selleck has reached a tentative settlement over allegedly stealing truckloads of water for his ranch from a public hydrant to battle the California droughts.

The Calleguas Municipal Water District submitted a complaint on Monday in Ventura County Superior Court against the star of 1980s television series “Magnum, P.I.” and police show “Blue Bloods“, which airs on CBS.

But the district’s resources manager Eric Bergh told AFP that a provisional agreement had been reached to resolve the row.

Officials sent two cease and desist letters to Selleck in November 2013 but reported the same truck filled up at the hydrant and again delivered water to the “Blue Bloods” actor in his separate water district just weeks later on December 16, the filing said.

The Calleguas district, which serves a large portion of Ventura County, claims it paid $21,685.55 to an investigator to look into the alleged water theft.

Representatives for Selleck did not return phone messages and emails seeking comment Wednesday.

“We’re pleased about this”, the Times plenty Bergh as saying.

The water was then taken to the Magnum PI star’s nearby ranch, it is claimed.

Residents in drought-stricken Southern California have been ordered to cut water use by 25% amid a four-year dry spell.

The district announced a tentative settlement with Selleck on Thursday. There, Selleck would use the water to nourish his avocado farm, as well as moisturize the bristles of a mustache that might otherwise grow stiff and unkempt in the unforgiving summer air. Board Chair Felicia Marcus points out that public figures need to realize that they are role models for others, and she also says water agencies need to enforce water conservation regulations across the board.
