Watford storm back to beat shambolic West Ham
The tens of thousands of vacated places will not have looked good to the West Ham owners who could not wait to leave the Boleyn Ground for the former Olympic Stadium, but they were a testament to a remarkable display of heart and resilience from Watford. However, with new signing Simone Zaza included and talismanic Frenchman Dimitri Payet and Argentine ace, Manuel Lanzini, back in the starting eleven, there was a real buzz amongst the Hammers faithful. With a section of the fans causing altercations in the stand, the West Ham defence very much fell apart just before half time, with miss-communication between Gomes and Collins the main cause of the opener. Meanwhile, Ighalo twice went close for the visitors, firstly firing wide from close range, then seeing Adrian block his snapshot from twelve yards.

53 – GOAL! West Ham United 2-3 Watford (Capoue) – Pereyra’s chipped ball lands perfectly to Capoue who strikes the ball on the half-volley and it flies straight into Adrian’s top-right hand corner putting the away side in front for the first time in the match.
And barber Reece Bude added: “Terrible, I was threatened and told I was getting beat up outside the ground for sticking up for a woman being abused by a thug standing infront of her, the place is disgusting with no police to be seen anywhere”.
The thrills continued when Watford reduced the deficit five minutes before the interval with Ighalo turning Sam Bryan inside-out before stabbing home a shot that deflected off James Collins. That happens. Of course it shouldn’t, but you don’t expect it to happen again.
“The first one is the one that worries me more”.
“It was too easy for them to get in those positions”.
Mazzarri added: “Another concept I always tell my players is that they have to believe that we can win until the referee whistles for the end of the game”. They were pressuring us, we felt the pressure not only of them, but of the public (crowd). “But we had a couple of opportunities and we adjusted a couple of things at half-time and it went our way”.
