Wawrinka crashes out in Basel

Rafael Nadal was pushed to three sets again at the Swiss Indoors before beating Grigor Dimitrov 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 in the second round on Wednesday.

Pospisil, the second best Canadian tennis player breezed past British Aljaz Bedene, 6-3, 6-4 at the Valencia Open 500’s second round.

Cilic will play in the quarterfinals against Spain’s Rafael Nadal, who won against Bulgaria’s Grigor Dimitrov.

“After the first set, everything was good, I was playing well”. I was also a bit lucky when I converted by break points.

“This was another very tough match, I had to fight, but to win this way was fantastic”, Nadal said. “The things are going better, there aren’t other solutions than working. I had my chances to take control of the match”, said the Swiss.

The French Open champion from Switzerland exited in the first round for the fourth straight year, beaten by Ivo Karlovic of Croatia 3-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4.

“After the first set, everything was good, I was playing well. I had a few mistakes, but it can happen”, he said. I played really good for two sets, more or less. “Today I got my chances and I didn’t take them”.

Marin Cilic, a victor in Moscow last weekend, beat Basel native Marco Chiudinelli 6-3 7-6 (7-3), and Jack Sock was a 6-4 6-2 victor against Denis Kudla. The Croatian kicks the Russians Teimuraz Gabashvili easily with 6: 3, 6: 1. But the Spaniard battled back to level the set at 2-2 before taking advantage of a tentative service game from Dimitrov at 3-4 to secure his fifth and final break before serving out for the match after two hours and 12 minutes.
