Supporters will remember that anything can happen on the final match day of the season, as evident by the painful turn of events when City won the League a few years ago.

After everything was set up for a tense fight-out for fourth place between two neighbours on the final game of the season, a forgotten bomb training device coupled with City’s draw at the Liberty Stadium has turned this match into something of an anti-climax.

Wayne Rooney admits the assessment of Manchester United’s season will have to wait until after Sunday’s final Barclays Premier League fixture, with the Reds still chasing a top-four finish.

The Daily Mail reports that De Gea is concerned about United’s ambitions for the future, as he will be missing out on Champions League football next season, and will press for a move with Real Madrid interested in his services.

Van Gaal has spoken of retiring after the 2016/17 season, but the Dutchman refused to comment when asked what he would do if United offered him an extension. I don t think we have to improve defensive organisation too much, now we have to score more in our attacking way.

“That is “if” and I want to keep to the facts”, he said.

Republic of Ireland boss Martin O’Neill tells us that Shane Long can become Ireland’s Euro 2016 hero, while we also have the best GAA coverage and a fitting tribute following the sad passing of golfing legend Christy O’Connor.

Bournemouth’s refusal to be dragged into the relegation fight was an impressive feat in their first ever top-flight campaign and manager Eddie Howe is convinced his players will not let up despite having little to play for.
