For the first time since acquiring the community-based traffic and navigation app Waze back in 2013, Google has rolled out an extensive overhaul of the application’s user interface, and implemented a number of new features.

Waze will also now give you a heads up about certain accidents before you even get in the vehicle. All of these can be achieved with just a single tap of a button.
Waze aims to make its app simpler, for which it has been making updates for the past several years. Now drivers just need a tap for anything they want with the app. A facelift has also been given to the map interface so that users are able to find similar design qualities as they find with the maps product from Google.
Perhaps recognizing that users aren’t necessarily passengers, but the drivers themselves, instead of having to tap on each alert, Waze version 4.0 will send you alerts when you approach them automatically. Using this panel will allow him to see reports, learn about alternate routes, assign a stop, or send ETA instantly to family and friends. The “smart calendar” feature will alert users when road incidents are likely to impact the day’s schedule, giving you the chance to leave earlier and minimize delays.
In April, the company teased that a redesign was forthcoming when users inquired about why the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus wasn’t supported yet.
Today’s update seems to further integrate Waze into the Google core. The new version of Waze 4.0 is now only available for iOS, but the Android version is reportedly coming soon.
