WDBJ reporter, cameraman killed by gunman during live news report; suspect

He is not dead, he is in a critical condition and still has a pulse. With emergency lights activated, a Virginia State Police trooper initiated a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, said police spokeswoman Corinne Geller. Reports say she was in the control room at the time and witnessed the shooting.

Vester Flanagan was known professionally under the name of Bryce Williams. The Facebook and Twitter account were suspended shortly after the tweets.

Flanagan alleged that other employees made racially tinged comments to him and that he filed a complaint with the EEOC.

Ward was 27 years old. Just seeing the picture of the gun pointing at Parker seconds before she was murdered is chilling enough.

“It is my sad duty to report… that Alison and Adam died this morning”, said WDBJ General Manager Jeff Marks.

Two members of a local TV station’s news team were fatally shot Wednesday during a live TV broadcast near Roanoke, Va., WDBJ7-TV said. “We did understand that he was still living in the area”. Vicki Gardner, the woman being interviewed at that moment, was injured and in surgery.

Though Marks has heard of Flanagan leveling accusations in the past, he told CNN, “I don’t think Alison and that individual even overlapped here”.

Reporter Alison Parker was interviewing an economic development official about local tourism as eight shots rang out.

Flanagan also claimed that an unnamed white supervisor at the station said black people were lazy because they did not take advantage of scholarships to attend college.

After news of their deaths broke, Parker’s boyfriend, WDBJ evening co-anchor Chris Hurst, 28, took to social media to reveal the couple’s secret relationship and post a touching tribute to his serious girlfriend of nine months.

Adam Ward was engaged to the station’s morning show producer Melissa Ott and the two were planning their wedding.

The station then switches back to a shot of an anchor back at the station, who has a shocked expression on her face.

He reportedly had a grudge against the station and Parker and Ward in particular. Photos she posted show the smiling couple enjoying sporting events and tailgating.
