A choir of very talented doctors, nurses and health workers from the UK’s NHS (National Health Service) is celebrating taking out the UK Charts number one spot, ahead of Justin Bieber and Adele.

This Christmas, the pop star earned kudos for urging his fans in the United Kingdom to NOT make his single, Love Yourself, No. 1 on the British Christmas charts.
But at lunchtime on Christmas Day, they were gathered together to discover whether the impossible could come true – a number one festive hit…
A Bridge Over You was originally recorded two years ago with the choirmaster Gareth Malone on the BBC2 programme Sing While You Work, but this year Rogerson and colleagues started a social media campaign to get it to No 1. It’s Christmas. @Choir_NHS good luck.
All proceeds from the NHS Choir’s single will go to a selection of charities including Carers UK and Mind.
Their song is a mash-up of “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkel and Coldplay s “Fix You“.
They told OfficialCharts.com: “We are absolutely overwhelmed and couldn’t be any happier!”
“I was listening to the song and it dawned on me that a great way of translating how I was feeling and how proud I was to work for the NHS would be getting (the song) to number one”.
Choir members say they are thrilled at the reception “A Bridge Over You” has received.
Bieber tweeted: “I’m hearing this UK Christmas race is close… but the NHS Choir single is for charity. So…”
‘The NHS Choir were a late entry into the race and as such were a relatively victor for us but even bookies can embrace the spirit of Christmas from time to time, ‘ said spokesman Joe Crilly.
Her cover of Bob Dylan’s Forever Young dropped three places since entering the chart last week – meaning it is likely to be the first X Factor winner’s single to fail to reach the top spot.
‘There couldn’t be a more deserving group of winners’.
