Bakrid is also known as the feast of sacrifice because the legend goes that on this day disciple Hazrat Ibrahim who obeyed God’s command and was about to sacrifice his son Ismail. Egypt’s streets turned into one big yarn filled with sheep and cows. The crowd was easily more than 5,000 people, many families dressed in their holiday best, with traditional clothes from just about every part of the Muslim world. “Food and money are distributed to those in need as men, women, and children reflect on their fortune and look towards the next year”.
