Clinton, the first female presidential nominee for a major American party, has now officially become Republican Donald Trump’s Democratic rival for the presidency of the United States.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo took the stage and began his speech talking about his father, former New York governor who gave the keynote speech in 1984. “It motivates people, people are pumped”.

Biden, a loyal Democratic soldier and a popular figure within the party, said Clinton “has always been there for you. Instead we will build an economy where everyone who wants a good job can get one”, said Clinton, to thunderous applause. Before minimum wage and worker protection laws? “Before Roe v. Wade?”. He had a 2-point lead over Clinton in a Reuters/ Ipsos opinion poll released on Tuesday, the first time he has been ahead since early May. “Even in the midst of crisis, she listens to people, and she keeps her cool, and she treats everybody with respect”, Obama declared. “She stood on the world stage and declared that human rights were women’s rights”, Cuomo said.

“Our Founders embraced the enduring truth that we are stronger together”, she said.

That contrasted with last week’s Republican convention in Cleveland, where many party notables showed their concern about Trump’s rhetoric and policies by staying away.

Clinton’s speech was interrupted multiple times by chants from the crowd, though many times cheers for Clinton drowned out the hecklers. “It’s never a joke; it’s something we should all take seriously”, she said.

And on Wednesday, Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook “burst out laughing”, according to a report from The Hill, when he was asked during a Wall Street Journal luncheon if the candidate would hold a press conference between the Democratic National Convention and Election Day. And she’s seen her promise struggling mothers she’d do all she could to help them. Jason Thompson, an Arkansas delegate, questioned Clinton’s authenticity by saying, “It’s really hard to believe that she is really authentic and really wanting to connect with us”.

She was the second daughter of a nominee in as many weeks to introduce her parent at a political convention.

“…there has never been a man or a woman – not me, not Bill, nobody – more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as President of the United States of America”, said Mr. Obama.

He went on to praise Mrs. Clinton, her plans for the future, and her choice in running mate Tim Kaine, before bluntly laying out the other presidential option: “And then there’s Donald Trump”.
