After zeroing in on Rahami and learning of the auto that had traveled between New Jersey and NY, authorities pulled it over Sunday night after it headed in the direction of Kennedy airport.

Ahmad Khan Rahami, a 28-year-old naturalized USA citizen from Elizabeth, New Jersey, was taken into custody hours after authorities identified him as the prime suspect in the Saturday night blast.

Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the leg, and two officers were wounded but were not critically hurt in the shootout that followed a weekend of fear and dread across NY and beyond. Authorities said he underwent surgery for a gunshot wound to the leg. The officer was wearing a bullet-proof vest, said Linden Police Captain James Sarnicki. Late Sunday night, five explosive devices were discovered in a trash can at an Elizabeth train station. “We have no information that would link them to this at all”, Boyce said at a briefing.

With Rahami’s arrest, officials said they have no indication there are more bombs or suspects to find, though they cautioned that they are still investigating.

Rahami’s involvement in the two bombings is unclear at this time, but officials believe Rahami is the man seen in surveillance footage rolling a duffel bag near the scene of the bombing in the Chelsea neighborhood of NY. Law enforcement sources told DNAinfo that they believe this may have inadvertently disabled the bomb.

Peter Bilinskas was standing by his desk at his Linden bowling-supply shop when he heard what sounded like gunfire and saw a man walking down the street with a gun in his hand.

Before Rahami’s capture, Cuomo said investigators have no reason to believe there are further threats, but the public should “be on constant guard”.

The shootout came after a weekend of fear and dread in the NY area and beyond.
