WHAT’S NEXT Due to Thursday’s cancelled events, the meet will now be condensed.

A dozen Central Michigan student-athletes will line up with some of the best in the nation beginning Thursday at the NCAA Track & Field East Preliminary at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida.

The NCAA Preliminary Rounds are often looked at as a survive and advance competition but it became exclusively about survival at the 2016 NCAA West Preliminary Rounds at Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence, Kan. today (May 26).

Central time, followed by sophomore Cassy Goodrich in the 400-meter dash at 10:10 a.m. OR has 26 men and 32 women competing in all.

All running events will be ran as a quarterfinal.

A decision was made to contest all of the running races as quarterfinal with the heat victor and next six best times advancing to the NCAA Championships. Each event had one attempt made from the third flight before another lightning delay occurred. A new schedule of events has yet to be finalized by the NCAA.

The second day of the preliminary round opens with the women’s discus and men’s javelin at 12 p.m. and concludes with men’s 3000m steeplechase at approximately 9:30 p.m.

The Aggies have four throwers in the third flight of the javelin, including Texas A&M school record holder Maggie Malone (198-0) and her sister, Audrey (179-0), along with Kristen Clark (165-3) and Krystyn Bradley (163-7). Rolling storms would continue throughout the evening and action was unable to resume, forcing officials to completely rearrange the schedule for action on Friday and Saturday.
