Weather Service adjusts forecast, lower chance of storms tonight
Some of the storms could produce heavy rain and frequent lightning.

While widespread severe weather is not expected, numerous lightning strikes are, so take precautions when lightning is in the area. “The stronger storms could produce gusty winds over 50 miles per hour, frequent lightning strikes, small hail and heavy rainfall”.
Rain chances will begin on Saturday and increase Sunday and Monday with some heavy rainfall possible.
That’s the advice from the folks at the National Weather Service for most of MA on Thursday where temperatures will reach into the 90s and, combined with high humidity, create potentially risky conditions.
NWS officials stated thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of, along, and behind a cold front Friday night.
The Heat Index – the summery cousin to the winter’s wind chill – is going to be around 100 for everywhere in the state except southeastern MA and Cape Cod.
This afternoon and evening there is a chance for scattered thunderstorms generally northwest of a line running from Salina through Hutchinson and on to Anthony. Rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

The forecast is for “warm and steamy weather into the weekend, with highs 80s to around 90”, said News 12 meteorologist Rich Hoffman.
