Sunday’s low in Madison was 52 at 4:07 a.m., 8 degrees below the normal low and 5 degrees above the record low of 47 for June 28, set in 1968. BUT, there are indications the steadiest & heavier pockets of rain could move through between 5 & 9pm. High temperature near: 91 in Beaumont, 89 in Orange and 92 in Port Arthur. South southwest wind 8 to 13 mph.

Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Low temperatures near: 74. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the upper 70s.

Friday: Partly sunny with a high near 82.

Saturday (Independence Day), expect partly sunny to mostly sunny skies. West wind 7 to 9 mph.

Monday: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon.

While many locations enjoy hazy sunshine and highs in the 80s, we continue to monitor the widely scattered potential for strong to severe storms for areas mainly south of I-70. East to southeast wind 5 to 10 MPH. Mostly cloudy with a low around 71. Highs will be in the low- to mid- 70s both days.
