WEATHER WARNING: Wintry gales bring snow and ice
The Met Office has issued a weather warning for snow and strong winds for most of the northern half of the United Kingdom for the next 24 hours.

A Met Office spokesman told The Independent: “The cold winds will enhance the cold temperatures that will be around 5 to 6 degrees Celsius, but with the wind will feel more like freezing”.
The warning of snow covers from 17:00 on Friday to 10:00 on Saturday.
The weather experts say the winds could be accompanied by a band of rain and snow with the possibility of snow “temporarily settling”, even at low levels.
