Webber School celebrates ‘best ever’ set of A-Level results
She told the BBC Radio 4 Today programme: “It’s 424,000 placed – the highest ever on A-level results day”.

BTEC students were also celebrating in Raynes Park, with 88 per cent of results coming in at either Distinction * or Distinction.
Many of the UK’s top universities, including most of the Russell Group, now offer places through clearing.
“It’s a privilege to be involved in this process and to work with the teaching team at this school”.
“I have also been very impressed by the Year 12 results which have increased by 10 per cent on all key measures since 2015”.
Headteacher John Panayi said, “we are pleased with the performances of the students”.
A total of 83 per cent of all grades were at A*-C.
“But they have coped with these varied challenges with maturity and positivity, something of which we are very proud”.
Records were also broken with further maths students all achieving A* and A grades.
“We are thrilled for Ellie Foot (A*, A*, A) who will be starting Veterinary Science at Liverpool University, which is incredibly hard to get into”.
Councillor Tom Bruce, Cabinet Member for Education and Children’s Services, Hounslow Council, said: “I would like to congratulate each and every one of our students for their fantastic results”.
By the time they went to collect their results, many students had already received a notification from universities on whether they had been granted entry.
South Thames College were also celebrating yesterday after 99 per cent of A-levels were passed, an increase of eight per cent on a year ago, while St Mark’s Academy in Mitcham achieved their best ever BTEC results.
Students at Peter Symonds College are celebrating what appears to be another outstanding year for A Level exam results.
Staff are equally delighted as the results showed that 74 per cent of the grades awarded were between A* and C with eight per cent of students achieving the highest possible A* grade.
