Week 1 Preview: Packers at Jaguars

This week the Jacksonville Jaguars will lose to the visiting Green Bay Packers because of the return of Jordy Nelson. He had his own injury-plagued 2015 season.

“I don’t think we played very well offensively”, Rodgers said. The Packers will be looking to come out firing and show that they are a top contender for the Super Bowl this season.

Aaron Rodgers was 20-of-34 for 199 yards and two touchdowns. It was the flawless start to a two-minute scoring drive that ended with perhaps one of the best plays of the NFL’s opening Sunday of 2016: Rodgers’ 29-yard touchdown pass to a diving Adams.

The big equalizer for the Packers throughout the season will be big plays down the field. Fans were shocked earlier this week when Thompson cut three-time Pro Bowler and guard Josh Sitton. “We want to start the season off the right way in front of the home crowd”.

On the Jaguars final offensive drive, Allen Robinson got his hands on a potential game winning touchdown catch. “If you’re here long enough, you’re going to see a lot of your close friends not here anymore”. You have an idea where the ball is going to go or who is going to have opportunities in the game. Defensively, Green Bay has some questions, but the unit still finds a way to make big plays when needed despite giving up their fair share of yards. Fourth-year coach Gus Bradley and the Class of 2014, which includes quarterback Blake Bortles and receivers Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns and Marquise Lee, will define where this franchise heads this season.

Slow down Rodgers and Co. and the offseason hype about a Jags resurgence might finally stick after years of being a fleeting mirage. The Jaguars had the 7-best scoring offense in the National Football League and Blake Bortles is only getting more comfortable in the NFL. “Hopefully, I can help us out on that side of things and not turn the ball over so much”. All of the new additions (Jalen Ramsey, Tashaun Gipson, and Prince Amukamara) had their moments and should get even better as they become more comfortable in this defense.

Joe Prunty’s first game filling in for Jason Kidd produced a 113-100 win over a Philadelphia 76ers team that has won just one game all season. New tight end acquisition Jared Cook stood out in the preseason, now the Packers get to see how he impacts the 1-team offense when the real games begin today. Adams dropped a deep ball earlier in the game that gave plenty of flashbacks to last season. “We’ll look back at the tape and make the corrections we need to make”. And the defense? Jacksonville ranked #31 in scoring D last year, but the Jags basically have 3 first-round rookies to unveil this year.
