Gasoline prices in the Syracuse area have fallen 2 cents a gallon over the past week and could drop another 10 to 12 cents next month, according to a price-tracking site. Drivers in Manhattan are paying the most at an average of $2.25 a gallon.
The national average Sunday was $2.21, down five cents from the mark of the prior Sunday. Founded in 2000, GasBuddy.com developed as an initiative to provide consumers access to local, current gas prices.
The market fundamentals appear to be moving favorably for USA motorists; pushing the benchmark West Texas Intermediate crude lower, as it starts the week at $44.53 [per barrel]. Falling prices and building domestic inventory have contributed to the lower prices. For every $1 change in the price of a barrel, gas prices shift about 2.4 cents per gallon, Jenkins said.
“A lot of places like to get to that $1.99 price”, Speer said.
