In a column written earlier this month for Washington Babylon, the 26-year-old Leathers claimed that one woman had recently come forward saying that Weiner was sending her explicit messages and asking Leathers for advice on what to do about it. The sources said she did not know about it or details of the latest sexting exchange until this weekend. But on Monday, she effectively declared she had had enough. Abedin’s friend said the separation from Weiner had been brewing for some time.

Vogue then published an extensive profile on Huma, where she gushes about Weiner and the wonderful support he gives her as a stay-at-home dad so she can travel on the campaign trail. She was a personal aide to Clinton during her successful 2000 campaign for US Senate, worked on Clinton’s first, unsuccessful White House bid in 2008 and served as her deputy chief of staff at the US State Department. Then a new series of sexually explicit pictures and messages emerged, and Weiner was forced to acknowledge he kept sexting after he had resigned from Congress.
