Elk Grove Food Bank Services’ annual turkey drive is experiencing success, as the community has contributed hundreds of turkeys for local families and individuals who can not afford a traditional holiday meal.

Eric Cooper, President and CEO of the San Antonio Food Bank, believes there are a number of reasons why they haven’t met their goal.

So we’d encourage you to stop by and donate a turkey. “What many people may not realize is just how many people in our community face the threat of hunger”. “We’ve had about a 23 percent increase this past year, and especially among seniors”.
“When people such as United Way and Harvest Food Bank step in, it’s giving families a chance to provide for their kids and grandkids, where as we don’t have the income to do it”, she said.
The Orange County Food Bank is short of turkeys to distribute to the needy this Thanksgiving and is seeking last-minute donations.

Brown says their volunteers will be out 13 different Albertson’s locations and at the St. Mary’s Food Bank on Saturday in Phoenix and Surprise from 9:00 a.m.to 3:00 p.m.to collect those donations.
