Wenger admits Arsenal can’t afford to rest Ozil
He is the main reason why Arsenal are top and manager Arsene Wenger revealed this week how he has been managing Ozil’s workload in training to keep him sharp for the big games.

Jamie Carragher has claimed that in-form Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil must win a Premier League title before he can be compared to club legend Dennis Bergkamp.
I gave Mesut a one-week holiday during the global break.
Wenger had meant to give Ozil a rest during the hectic Christmas fixture schedule, but a humbling 4-0 loss away to Southampton saw the 27-year-old drafted in two days later to guide his side to a 2-1 victory over Bournemouth. We rest him a lot between the games.
But Ozil is an ever-present, fully fit – mentally and physically – and a different player to the one that appeared jaded at times in the post-World Cup year last season.
England forward Walcott insists Ozil is “without a doubt” the best player in the Premier League so far this season, and is convinced his silver service can deliver the title in 2016.
Ozil himself grabbed a goal having set up Gabriel’s opener with a corner and Walcott labelled him a “special player” as he continues to lead the Gunners’ title tilt.
“I just keep making runs and he spots them”. “I need to help out by putting them in. The players in attack know his ability, they have got to know him better and that can only be good for the team”.
“Some of his touches and his goal alone was just… he didn’t even break stride, it was like he was jogging”, he added. “The finish [against Bournemouth] was class”.
“We don’t want to look ahead of ourselves but we have a history of ending the season well”, said Walcott. If I play Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and then Joel Campbell, that is not really rotation, but in the heart of the team at centre back or central midfield it is more risky.

“It shows you that we have a good chance as the statistics show you that eight of the past 11 years the team who was top on New Year’s Day won it”, Wenger told reporters. We have confidence and it is just flowing out there. But Wenger said that his £42.5m signing has now reached a fitness level where he is always ready to play, and can relax between matches.
