“These are all things that lead to success and when you look at Arsenal over the last four or five years, there’s no question that the squad has been progressing in strength”.
While Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis has told the media that the transfer window is not the end all be all for the club. “If we find the right candidates then we will spend the big money”, Wenger said following Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Lens in their first pre-season friendly, as quoted on Arsenal’s official site.
“We have already spent big, Until now, nobody has spent more on a transfer than we have in this country”. Manchester United are looking to smash all sorts of British transfer records to sign the French star from Juventus, and don’t kid yourself Wenger, you certainly wouldn’t be seen spending £100million on one player.
Arsenal are now linked with a number of big-name strikers, including Gonzalo Higuain, Alexandre Lacazette and Mauro Icardi, but Wenger refused to say which player he was most interested in. Today we are in July and the transfer market finishes on August 31. It’s a long time to go, but we are active.

And while Wenger insists Arsenal are “very active” in their attempts to add to their squad, he has urged fans to be patient as they try to get deals over the line.
