We’ll have full posts on each player once the dot com has confirmation and photos and everything, but knowing Arsène, there’s basically no way he’s publicly speak on this unless the deals were 100% completed.
Arsenal are closing in on a double deal for striker Lucas Perez and defender Shkodran Mustafi, but manager Arsene Wenger insists that the signings will not be a reaction to fans calling for new players.
“When you buy a player of 24 you can always get your money back”. The 27-year-old Spaniard has had a nomadic career to date but with Everton interested in his services, Arsenal have jumped in at the last minute with concerns around the long-term fitness of Danny Welbeck and only Olivier Giroud around. “He was Valencia’s captain last season and, if we get it done, we’ll have achieved what we wanted [this window]”, he added. “And after you get the European Championship”.
The north London club failed with a move for Jamie Vardy, while they were out-priced in their move for Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman was hopeful his side could also enjoy a similar transfer window like the other top Premier League clubs. But Wenger rejected the notion that he had acted out of desperation to snap up a striker who was available because of a £17 million release clause.
He said: “Look at my face”.
“In my job is to make the right decisions for the team and the club”. But you will see how many transfers will happen in the next three or four days. “Maybe the biggest amount ever”.
“He’s a late developer because he played in a different position”. He moved centrally in a successful way.

And on Mustafi, he said, “I think he’s a good signing but time will tell”.
