Wenger confused over Sanchez penalty
FC’s Craig Burley credits Arsenal’s resolve against Hull City, following their midweek draw with PSG.

Granit Xhaka opened his Arsenal account in spectacular style today, scoring the final goal in his side’s 4-1 win over Hull.
Further goals from Theo Walcott and Granit Xhaka ensured Arsenal came away from the KCOM Stadium with an emphatic result and their third consecutive Premier League victory, and Wenger praised the fluency of their performance. Cazorla had taken Arsenal’s last two penalties – and scored both – but it was the Chile forward who stepped up on Saturday, only to see his low effort saved by Eldin Jakupovic.
“Maybe not everything will work out for me, but one thing they [Arsenal fans] need to know is that I will always give my all”, he told the club’s official website. “Did Santi not want to take it, or did Sanchez take the ball? But he was not planned, Sanchez”.
“It got a little bit close, then Sanchez [scores]”. I read some of the comments and it makes me proud to know that they expect a lot from me. “Overall anyone can miss a penalty, we have to accept that”.
Wenger revealed afterwards that Santi Cazorla was the designated first penalty taker, and seemed to be infuriated with Sanchez’s stubborness for refusing to allow the Spaniard to convert.
It remains to be seen if Xhaka does prove to be a smart signing for Arsenal this season.

Sanchez’s contract with the London club runs out in 2018, and Wenger’s lambasting of one of his star players may be amidst rumours that Juventus are ready to offer the attacker a £200,000 a week contract in order to lure him to Turin. And he has that in him, he has that in the locker, shots from a distance.
