Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was brimming with confidence after his side’s victory over Manchester City and hailed their maturity.

The forward had been expected to be named on the bench for Monday night’s 2-1 Premier League win over Manchester City but Wenger revealed after the game that he had suffered a minor setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury.
“There are 63 more points to win, a lot of games and the way we played in the second half shows that we will continue to fight for the title”.
“I think that we demonstrated character and personality and we will never give up”.
With captain Vincent Kompany still absent due to a calf injury, City looked vulnerable at centre-back, where Eliaquim Mangala and Nicolas Otamendi once again toiled.
“When we had possession we had chances, before the attractive goal from Theo Walcott”. In addition to putting Arsenal four points ahead of Man City, the win also strengthened belief within the ranks that this really could be their year.
Sagna rued the loss against his former club but knows there is still a long way to go in the season.
“You can see there’s an exceptional life in this team and when we had not the legs anymore we relied on the spirit and that got us through in the end”. It is a significant game.
City have lost five games this season and the last team to lose more than five games before Christmas and still win the title was Everton in 1986-87.
Mesut Ozil provided the assists for Walcott and Giroud’s goals on Monday and Wenger had nothing but praise for the trio after their decisive contribution.
“In football you need one guy who gives the ball to the one who scores the goal”, the Frenchman said.
“Ozil is much more mature and much more keen to take on responsibility”, Wenger added.
“He had a chest infection for the week and was in bed basically”, Wenger said.
City welcomed striker Sergio Aguero back to the starting lineup for the first time since November and the first half was an intriguing encounter at times, with both teams passing the ball around confidently.
‘Today was important for us.

“During the first half we had clear options before and then they scored with the only shot that they had in that moment”. We took more risks and created chances, but you can not make mistakes in these important games.
