Wenger hopes Arsenal play catch-up in title race
Wenger moved to bring in a number of new signings during the summer transfer window, including late additions Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi.

After a disappointing start to the new season that saw us collect just one point from our first two games against Liverpool and Leicester, we picked up our first win with a well deserved 3-1 victory at Vicarage Road before the global break. We didn’t have the possibility in the past to play against [each other] in the Champions League for example.
“He is uncomfortable to play against”, Mustafi told Arsenal Player.
“I haven’t decided yet [whether they will start], I have to decide”.
Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster is ready for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal despite being ruled out of England’s World Cup qualifier on Sunday, manager Claude Puel has said. I think perhaps it’s the first step of a great comeback in the team.
Southampton, who remain winless after four matches of the new Premier League season, also saw spot-kicks awarded against them in an away defeat to Manchester United and home draw with Sunderland in recent weeks.
Indeed, Wenger considered other options as the club were intially reluctant to meet Valencia’s valuation for Mustafi and hopes of striking a deal for the Germany global started to fade in mid-August.
Lucas looked heavy on his feet in the first half but as the game progressed and he settled into the team’s system his sprints inside the box appeared more promising.
He said: “I am angry for my players. I think one month or more to get back to a good level”. “So we concentrated and we were in the game until the end, and that’s what gave us the win”.
