Wenger, who looks certain to add Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi and Deportivo La Caruna striker Lucas Perez to his ranks in the coming days, likened Xhaka to a former Arsenal favourite and revealed the club had made a move for him previous year.
Reflecting on his new partnership with the Swiss, Cazorla told Arsenal Player: “I feel very well [next to him]”.
” Watford went for it absolutely because we couldn’t score the fourth goal and because we dropped physically and I think that we win games here but they are physically very strong, very determined”. It’s not typical English. “The game here is more like in Spain and the German national team by keeping the ball on the grass so it was easy to convince me”. “Playing in the Champions League, playing with teammates from who you can learn, who have big experience, so it’s why I moved there”.
“Arsene couldn’t imagine that anyone would criticise him openly on television, never mind a former Arsenal player”.
The defender also admitted that Arsenal’s continental style of football was another contributing factor in his decision to pen a five-year deal with the club. “In my career I’ve always looked out for taking steps forward”.
The 24-year-old is set to sign for the Gunners from Valencia this week on a five-year deal for a fee which could rise to £35m, with Arsene Wenger revealing deals for the Germany global and Lucas Perez are nearly complete.
