Wenger ready to spend in January
They’ve managed to put their fate in their own hands with a convincing 3-0 win over Zagreb afterwards, but even if they do progress to the next round they are unlikely to get past the quarter-finals.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed Alexis Sanchez has picked up a minor hamstring problem ahead of the Premier League encounter with Norwich on Sunday, but is hopeful the Chile worldwide can still play.
Wenger signed Petr Cech in the summer and the goalkeeper was the north London club’s addition, having moved to the Emirates from cross town rivals Chelsea. I can tell you I bought Patrick Vieira for £2.5m and it was a top bargain because he was a top-quality player – it would be hard to repeat these kind of buys now. ‘In the last two games we took one point out of six and that is very hard and very disappointing when you are on such a great run. For me this is symptomatic of one of Wenger’s major problems; that he loves skilful and tricky players and does not appreciate those that do the dirty work. “That’s why I play as well Calum Chambers for 10 or 12 minutes on Tuesday to see how he positions and we are happy because he can do it”. “What is for us a bargain is to buy players of top quality, because only top quality strengthens our squad”.
It seems whilst Arsenal do have their eye on the transfer market, they will not be spending money for the sake of it and will instead focus on players that fill their criteria; which suggests loan options may be considered.
“I use Ramsey on the right”.
Wenger may have to spend on a defensive midfielder in January, with Francis Coquelin ruled out until late February with the knee ligament injury sustained at The Hawthorns on Saturday. The return of Aaron Ramsey could give the Gunners boss more options, especially in the absence of Coquelin and his captain Mikel Arteta.

When asked if he himself could be the difference in Arsenal claiming the League title this season, Ozil diplomatically answered, “Not because of Mesut Ozil, but with Mesut Ozil”.
